Year: 2026Heal approached us with a brief to create a Ramadan fasting timetable inspired by the lunar cycle and the gradual transition of light throughout the day. We designed an interactive volvelle that only reveals the specific day’s date, prayer times, and moon phase through a series of precisely positioned viewing windows.
The outer ring displays the Gregorian dates, while the concealed rotating disc beneath aligns to reveal the corresponding prayer times, Hijri day of the month, and current moon phase. This layered construction transforms the typical timetable into a tactile object that encourages daily interaction and focus.While the visual language aligns with Heal's existing identity, and colours, we designed the calendar through the use of gradient to reference the changing colours of the sky from daylight to dawn, as this is how days are all the days were determined. Embossed crescent and star illustrations add depth and follow Heal’s logo design, creating a restrained tactile finish as the volvelle is handled.
